In This I Believe

As this is my first post, it would like to share with you my background in Lyme disease. I have been actively involved in the struggle for the accurate diagnosis and reasonable treatment of Lyme disease and other tick born diseases since the early 1990's. On the website is my "CV".

Lyme disease is one of the great medical scourges of our time. It has ruined the lives of countless thousands of people of all ages and races throughout Planet Earth. Though definitely a disease of humans from at least the 1800's, the bacteria which causes Lyme disease eluded scientific researchers until 1980 when the great Willy Burgdorfer Ph.D. discovered it's presence in deer ticks.

Since the discovery of Lyme disease the development of clinical testing and treatment regimens have generated a tremendous amount of controversy and animosity in the medical profession. There are no signs that this will resolve in the near future. Add to this the interference of the Medical insurance industry trying to protect their bottom line.

Who suffers from this? Each and every one of us does. When someone contracts Lyme disease, they are thrown into this murky world of bewildering differences of medical opinions, and oftentimes are accused of not really being sick, but are neurotic or seeking some sort of secondary gain. Now that's what I call adding insult to injury!
